LISTEN: “We’re Ready When You Are (DJ Mehdi Remix)” by The Krays featuring Ebony Bones
The Krays (Brodinski and Yuksek) have teamed up with the craziness that is Ebony Bones for a new single, “We’re Ready When You Are”. Thank you DJ Mehdi for adding a bit more disco funk to it. Preview the new single (along with another remix by Clashes)
Twinsies! Punches is made up of the Fingers on the Pulse DJs and Alan Astor. So the weather is getting ridiculously warm in NY, so whats more appropriate than a remix like this? Fun disco song for the summer that almost makes me feel like I should be flying back to the 90s and rocking out to some Real McCoy.
Um so we’ve had like literally quite a million LCD Soundsystem posts in the last month. New remix from LCD Soundsystem’s DFA buddies, Holy Ghost!. Super fun and disco-y, which if you read Beatcakes enough, is pretty much all that takes to satisfy me. This song is in desperate need of some cut up clips of Donna Summer and disco balls or something. Someone jump on that.
Also, LCD Soundsystem has added a 4th night to their shows in New York at T5 along with Holy Ghost!. They also have an EP coming out on May 18th - more info at Holy Ghost!.
I think Clock Opera is one of my favorites now. They just really know how to create beautiful songs, this one being no exception. I love the way Marina’s voice is sampled because its just so fitting for such a dreamy song. Make sure to buy the HQ version of this song on iTunes.
Also, Clock Opera is releasing their new single, “A Piece of String”, which you can preview in the video above. Creative video - reminds me of when I was little when I was playing with rubber bands (giggle!) but so much more visually stunning and not in the shape of a dinosaur. Look out for it to be released on Maman Records on June 7th.
LISTEN: “ADD SUV (Armand Van Helden Remix)” by Uffie featuring Pharrell
This is straight up bonkers. Dropped on Annie Mac’s show (explains the “FRRRIDDAYYY” scream in the beginning of the song), this remix really hypes up the original version. Great disco house track that’ll really tear up the dance floor.
What the random? Dirty Projector’s Amber Coffman featured on the new single by Mad Decent’s dubstep extraordinaire, Rusko. Sub Focus’s remix is full of stutters and wobbly bass. A little bit faster and more upbeat than Rusko’s original version. Just as good though. Check out the original over at Prefix Mag and make sure to jump on Rusko’s first LP, O.M.G. to be released on May 4th.
