LISTEN: “Beyondce” by Javelin

I just like anything with Beyonce’s name, not going to lie. Kind of sounds like if Beyonce’s uber-producers decided to make a video game, in which Sasha Fierce takes over an 8-bit world. Vat?

(Listen to “Beyondce” by Javelin off of their 2 EP)

JAVELIN.

Javelin seem to have a knack for designating tracks with parodied names of celebrities. After  “Lindsay Brohan” off of their 2009 release  Jamz n Jemz they are back this time with a track titled “Beyondce” off of their  12” limited release EP 2. Possibly taking notes from the aforementioned R&B queen, the track starts off with a choppy R&B-laden rhythm with high-pitched, cheesy synth stabs and vocal swells. As the song progresses, the old-school vibe, characteristic of many of Javelin’s tracks becomes apparent. While not as production heavy as many of the songs on their two full LP’s released, Beyondce still takes its spot as one of their most head-nodding  and crowd pleasing tracks.

While cranking out 2 EPS and 2 LPS, the duo still finds enough time to produce remixes to add to their growing reusme. Their latest, a remix of “HEALTH’s In Heat off of their second album Get Color, leaves the aggression and intensity of the original at the door, and gives it a playful and upbeat mood. The track starts off of with an Indeep vocal sample, which paves the way for the stuttering bright synths and driving bassline. The hook is inviting, and once you are immersed into the song, it ends; leaving you reminiscent of summers long gone and hitting the back button on your mp3 player for a repeat listen. Be sure to check it out here.
